About Chicken Feather Woods, LLC
WOOD- Folk Artist, Furniture and Decor I am a self taught folk artist inspired by my father, a carpenter and a builder, who I watched as a child and worked alongside as I became an adult. Wood has always fascinated me. I have crafted wood and wood products in varied ways throughout my life by building homes, having personally designed unique trims and woodwork, furniture, and small artistic pieces. I enjoy creating by using a variety of woods and mixing several types in many of my pieces. In addition, I use a wide array of finishes including: painted, distressed, and hand rubbed finishes, utilizing numerous waxes and polyurethane. However, many of my works are left natural. I love the beauty of wood and the grain that each type of wood produces. Most recently, I have been intrigued by trees that are naturally decayed and spalted (wood coloration, lines, designs, caused by fungi found in dead or distressed trees). My family and friends tell me that I have a vision for creations within each tree. I DO KNOW that the shape of the wood leads me to the art it will become. I have a passion for finding old and unique wood to refurbish. My idea of a "perfect day" is to explore an old barn, out building, or shack and discover treasures in the wood that others have discarded or written away as junk. I "clean them up" and recreate or build using my own style and artisanship.
