Hawk's Nest Print
11" x 14"
My family visits Hawks Nest State Park every summer and the views are so magical. When you visit, you will always see a hawk or two flying around between you and the sky. If you are lucky you will see a train carrying coal along the New River. The coin operated binoculars are so neat. I will always have special memories of Hawks Nest and I wanted to celebrate how special this unique place is to me through this linocut print.
Linocuts are handmade original prints, carved from one block or several blocks of linoleum with the help of sharp knives of different sizes. The actual cutting is like sculpting; the direction, strength, and even depth of the cut all contribute to the final image. All linocuts are inked by hand. For each one I print, I need to ink the plate again, which also means there can be small differences from print to print.
