Linocuts are handmade original prints, carved from one block or several blocks of linoleum with the help of sharp knives of different sizes. The actual cutting is like sculpting; the direction, strength, and even depth of the cut all contribute to the final image. All linocuts are inked by hand. For each one I print, I need to ink the plate again, which can result in small differences from print to print. Linoleum plates do not last forever. After the limited edition of 60 prints, the plate is damaged in such a way that it can't be printed from again. The number on your print ( for example 5/60) tells you that an edition of 60 exists of this image, and that your print is number 5
